Features Guide

General

Infinity Vaults is designed from the ground up to be the most secure storage app available on iOS and be as easy/accessible to use as possible with a wide variety of features.

If you enjoy the app, you can support it through rating the app, sharing the app, and upgrading to the Professional subscription service. Thank you!

  • You are encouraged to review the many features listed below to get the most out of the app. Start simple and explore advanced features as you learn how to use the app over time. Upgrade to Professional to unlock powerful premium features. Thousands of hours go in to development and your purchase helps make this app possible and will allow new features to be added over time.
  • The app is organized in to discrete feature sets on the dashboard. Long press on any feature to re-arrange the order based upon your preferences.
  • All functions are designed to be usable with one hand and without excessive reaching. The Action button (+) in the bottom right controls navigation and primary features. The tools button will appear on some sections in the lower left and provides additional features. Screens support swiping down to dismiss in most cases and swiping from the edges can move back and forth between screens.
  • Long press can be used throughout the app on files to re-arrange them as well as to provide secondary features on toolbar buttons. List / Table views support dragging to re-order items as well as a search filter.
  • Access primary features like creating, editing, and re-ordering items / folders using the Action button (+).
  • Access your “Keychains” on the Dashboard by swiping from the right edge of the screen or tapping the Keychains button. Access your “Vaults” by swiping from the left edge of the screen or tapping the Vaults button.
  • Use the paste button on the bottom left of the Dashboard to paste links or images you have copied from the Photos App.
  • Device rotation is supported throughout the app.
  • Customize the dashboard by pressing ‘+’ and set a background image from your photos.
  • Enjoy the build in Web Apps, add your favorite web apps using ‘+’ on the dashboard, or remove web apps using the “…” button.
  • A wide variety of languages are supported for ease of use and the app will respect dark mode for icons and splash screens.
  • Notes, Reminders, Contacts, Wallet, and Passwords can be marked as favorites using the heart in the nav bar while viewing an item, or by swiping right on a row in the list. The filter menu has a Favorited option to show only those.
  • Those same sections can hide individual items using the eye button in the nav bar while viewing an item. Hidden items are kept out of the normal list and are reached through the Hidden filter, which asks for the Vault password when the Vault has one. Revealing an item asks for it too. When “Disable Hidden Filter” is on in Settings, every hide and reveal control disappears throughout the app unless you are peeking at hidden items for the session. While peeking, hidden items appear in the list as normal but are dimmed.
  • Notes, Reminders, Contacts, Wallet, and Passwords each have a filter menu in the nav bar with Filter By, Invert, Sort By, Sort Order, and Reset to Default, matching the Media filters. Sorting by name groups the list alphabetically with a fast scroll index; any other sort shows one plain list.
  • The app supports Google Drive and Dropbox Cloud Vaults. These utilize your own existing accounts (or you can make a new account through them) so none of your data is ever stored on a server outside of your control.
  • When using Cloud Vaults, files are initially saved to local storage and then uploaded to the Cloud. This ensures that the user experience is not held waiting for files to upload. Once the upload is completed, the temporary local file is deleted. Please keep in mind the time it may take to upload large files and wait until files are fully uploaded before closing the app. Items that are still being uploaded will have an upload icon on them. You can tap this to see Upload progress, cancel/re-attempt uploads, etc.
  • A Cloud Vault remembers the account that created it and shows that email under the Vault name in the Vaults list. Signing in with a different account is rejected and the app tells you which account the Vault expects, because the files a Cloud Vault holds are only readable by the account that wrote them. Vaults created before this was added claim their account the first time they are opened successfully.
  • NOTE: DUE TO 3RD PARTY STORAGE LIMITATIONS AND NETWORK LIMITS, INDIVIDUAL FILES LARGER THAN 1000 MB CANNOT BE UPLOADED TO CLOUD DRIVES.
  • External Drive Vaults (Professional) keep a Vault’s files on a USB drive plugged into your device while the database, keys, and records stay on the device. Choose a folder on the drive when you create the Vault. The app remembers that folder and reconnects on its own whenever the drive is attached and, for an encrypted APFS drive, unlocked in the Files app. If the drive is missing, locked, or the folder permission was revoked, the app tells you which it is and offers to try again or to choose the folder once more. Choosing a folder never moves a Vault to a new place. It is accepted only when it already holds that Vault’s files, which lets you copy a drive to a new one. Inside a local Vault, Add External Drive Folder under the plus button creates a folder whose files live on the drive, and everything created or moved into it stays on that drive. Folders on a disconnected drive still list their files and ask you to connect the drive when you open one. The primary Vault’s Settings has a Storage Locations screen that lists each external drive folder you have chosen, shows which Vaults and folders use it and whether the drive is currently connected, and lets you forget a location once nothing uses it. The primary Vault cannot live on an external drive because the share extension writes into it.
  • Have a feature request or experiencing a bug? Send us a Support Request in the Settings area.
  • Need help? Look for the ‘?’ button throughout the app.

Security

Infinity Vaults includes a variety of security features designed to protect your data:

  • The app supports containerized data storage using a system of “Keychains” and “Vaults”. “Keychains” are high-level containers that secure access to one or more “Vaults” (Vaults) that can be further protected with an optional password. The app can have an unlimited number of “Keychains” and “Vaults” and can be customized to segregate data and/or create decoys.
  • Each Keychain can contain one or more unique keys in an order of your choosing. All keys must be entered, in order, to unlock the Keychain. Adding more keys increases security. Key options include 4-digit PIN, 6-digit PIN, password, pattern, and time-based one-time-password using an authentication app. You can add additional security by enabling biometric ID or a geofence location block (these are added after a standard key and cannot be used on their own).
  • Each Vault can be given an optional password (enabled by editing the Vault or long-pressing its title; not available on a Keychain’s first Vault). When set, the password is required to open that Vault when switching to it from another Vault on the same Keychain, and to access its Trash and hidden files. This adds a layer of protection beyond the Keychain.
  • Create a Decoy Keychain by tapping the Keychain icon in the top-right corner of the app’s home screen, tap ‘+’, and select “Add Keychain.” Give it a name, then add one or more Keys (PIN, password, pattern, etc.). The primary Key must be unique. For best results, use the same type of Key as your main Keychain’s first Key to avoid suspicion. When prompted, create a Vault with a neutral name like “Work” or “Important Files,” then add harmless or generic files to complete the decoy. This Keychain can safely be shared without revealing your real data.
  • When setting your passphrase, be sure to write it down somewhere and store it securely OUTSIDE of the app (such as on paper and put in a physical safe). This CANNOT be recovered and is required to decrypt data exported out of the app such as through a WebDAV backup or browsing iTunes backups directly.
  • Each Vault has its own database and is AES-256 encrypted with a passphrase derived encryption key for additional security you set on first install. All files, notes, data, etc. are encrypted with AES-256 security.
  • Optional Break-in report can be triggered on incorrect login attempts, capturing the user’s photo, location, and time for review.
  • Turn on “Require VPN for Browser” in Security settings to keep the browser and downloads paused whenever no VPN is connected. The app watches for the additional network interface that a VPN creates on your device beyond the standard Wi-Fi and cellular ones, so it works with any VPN provider and never needs to know which one you use. iCloud Private Relay and per-app VPN configurations do not create that interface, so the check treats them as no VPN. You can continue without a VPN for the current session from the paused screen.
  • Vaults can be local (stored on your device) or cloud-based (Google Drive, Dropbox) with encrypted files in the cloud. NOTE: All Vaults have their database stored locally on your device.
  • You are 100% in control of your data. It is never stored on a server or backed up without you choosing to do so directly. This ensures the highest level of security and performance. NOTE: All data stored locally on the device will be backed up when you perform normal iOS backups (whether through iTunes or iCloud backups). It is recommended to perform regular backups as Infinity Vaults cannot recover data for you.
  • Encrypted Data stored in Cloud Vaults will not be backed up with your local iTunes / iCloud backups. Please reference Google Drive and Dropbox for their backup policies. Recovery of lost files on Cloud Vaults should be handled directly with the Cloud providers.
  • Data can be exported through various methods outlined further below.
  • All files are AES-256 encrypted regardless of size.
  • Optional “Erase Data After Failed Attempts” (Professional): permanently erases all app data after the number of consecutive failed unlock attempts you choose (10, 15, or 20). Escalating lockouts force a sustained attack to take hours or days. A warning is shown before the final attempts. Any successful login resets the count.
  • Vaults created on recent versions of the app each get their own unique, randomly generated encryption key. One Vault’s key never opens another.
  • Vaults from older installs share a single key derived from your passphrase. Use “Upgrade Vault Encryption” in that Vault’s Security settings to move it onto its own unique key. Everything in the Vault is re-encrypted in place (which can take anywhere from seconds to an hour depending on the amount of content to be re-encrypted), and the upgrade can be cancelled and resumed later without losing anything.
  • Once a Vault is on its own key, “Rotate Vault Encryption Key” replaces that key with a new one. Use it if an exported key may have been exposed.
  • “Export Encryption Key” in Global Security shows every key your data uses, including the older passphrase derived key if any Vaults still use it. Store it offline. This is what allows recovering your data outside the app.
  • “Change Passphrase” in Global Security replaces your passphrase without re-encrypting anything. Your passphrase protects your encryption keys rather than your files directly, so the change applies immediately.
  • “Key-Bound Encryption” (Professional), in each Keychain’s Security settings, makes the keys of that Keychain part of the encryption itself. Your PIN, pattern or password stops being a lock the app checks and becomes part of the key that opens the Keychain’s Vaults, so nothing stored on the device can open them without it. A Vault password inside a bound Keychain becomes a second key for that Vault. Changing your keys or a Vault password re-wraps the keys instantly with the previous version kept until the new one has been used once. A forgotten key on a bound Keychain cannot be recovered, so export your Vault keys first. The feature can be turned off again at any time from the same setting.
  • “Unlock with Face ID” (or Touch ID) for a bound Keychain keeps a copy of that Keychain’s encryption key in the device’s Secure Enclave, released only by your enrolled biometrics with no passcode fallback. Enter your first key, and Face ID opens the Keychain and the Vaults you had unlocked without the remaining keys or Vault passwords. The copy never leaves the device, is never in a backup, and is invalidated when your biometrics change, so every key and Vault password is still required in full every 7 days and on any new device. Nothing about the encryption itself changes, and turning it off removes the copy.

AI Chat

Chat with 100% privacy using on-device Large Language Models (LLMs), Image Generation Models, and Audio Generation Models, or connect self-hosted and cloud models.

  • Use Apple’s built in Foundation model on supported devices or download open source LLMs with variations from Gemma, Qwen, Phi, Llama, Mistral, and more.
  • Chat through Apple Private Cloud Compute for a larger Apple server model without any account or API key. Requests are protected by Apple’s verifiable server privacy guarantees.
  • Connect to your own Ollama server on your local network to chat with models you host yourself. This is useful for larger models while keeping inference on your own private hardware.
  • Connect to cloud AI providers including Claude (Anthropic), ChatGPT (OpenAI), and Gemini (Google) using your own API key, for when you want the most powerful models. NOTE: Unlike on-device and self-hosted models, cloud models send your messages to the provider’s servers under their own privacy terms.
  • Download Stable Diffusion image generation models such as 1.5, 2.0, 2.1, and XL.
  • Download image enhancement models that upgrade AI Upscale and AI Sharpen in the Gallery. These models restore detail in photos degraded by compression, noise, and blur, and run entirely on device.
  • Download FLUX.2 Klein on iOS 27 and later for 1024×1024 image generation with exceptional detail. An optional image editing variant can modify attached or previously generated images, and a live preview shows the image forming at each generation step.
  • Download Stable Audio models to generate music and sound effects entirely on device, from short clips up to full length instrumental songs of several minutes. Audio generation runs on Apple’s Core AI and requires iOS 27 or later.
  • Generate images with cloud models such as Gemini’s Nano Banana using your own API key (subject to the provider’s privacy terms).
  • In the browser, long press an image to discuss it with AI, or highlight text on a page to bring up a Discuss with AI button. Page level Summarize and Discuss actions remain in the browser action menu.
  • Connect to Draw Things running on your own Mac to generate images there instead of on your device. Your Mac does the work with whichever model you have loaded, so you can use far larger models than a phone can hold, and nothing leaves your local network.
  • Chat directly with customizable AI Agents that you can create from templates such as those for support, assistants, or day to day uses like relationship advisors, idea generators, etc. or create an agent from scratch.
  • Generate images using Image Agents with specific styles like Photo Realistic, Anime, Retro, and more.
  • Generate audio using Audio Agents with specific styles like EDM, Lo-fi, Cinematic, Ambient, and Sound Effects. Each result appears in chat with a built in player, and you can save it to your Audio section or tap it to open it there.
  • Fully customize agents to have specific content generation parameters for repeatable chat behaviors.
  • Use robust tools including:
    • Fetch Guide – Ask questions about items in this guide and the FAQ.
    • File Search – Find images, videos, audio, and files from your Vault based upon file metadata.
    • Navigate App Sections – Open any section of the app from chat directly.
    • Web Search – Finds up to date information about current events or other information not already available in the core models.
    • Fetch URL – Loads a summary of data from any website by url.
    • Generate Image – Uses any created Image Generation Agents based upon their system prompt to generate images in LLM chat.
    • Generate Audio – Uses any created Audio Generation Agents based upon their system prompt to generate music or sound effects in LLM chat.
    • Create Memory – Allows saying to “remember” details and stores them in memories which will be used on future chats if enabled on an agent.
    • Create Note – Allows creating notes based upon chat details.
    • Weather – Looks up weather details for a location.
    • Calculator – Performs calculations based upon mathematical expressions.
    • Current Time – Allows accessing the current time/date for chat discussions.
    • Random Number Generator – Allows generating random numbers to enhance specific chat scenarios.
  • View, resume, delete past chat sessions.
  • Store long term memory for optional use with agents. This allows chats to use personal info or history for future chats.
  • Attach photos or files to models that support vision or file analysis.
  • Tap any message to copy it, save it to Notes, or read it aloud with controls for speed, voice, and skipping by sentence. Use Save to Notes in the action button to save the whole conversation.
  • Collapse the model and agent row into a single input bar using the chevron beside the send button, giving the conversation more room. Tap it again to bring the row back. Your choice is remembered the next time you open AI Chat.

Messages

Send end-to-end encrypted messages to other Infinity Vaults users without creating an account, sharing a phone number, or trusting a messaging server. Every message is encrypted inside your vault before it leaves your device, and only the people in the conversation hold the keys to read it.

  • Open Messages from the speech bubble button at the bottom left of the dashboard. A red dot on the button shows unread messages.
  • Connect with someone by invitation. Create an invitation for a contact and share the link or show the QR code, or scan the invitation someone sent you. A link you received as text can be pasted instead: copy it, then use Paste Invitation in the Messages menu or Paste from Clipboard on the dashboard. An invitation works once, and the first person to accept it is the one who connects. Each connection is tied to a card in your Contacts, so the people you message appear alongside everyone else you know.
  • Choose the display name your contacts see. It is shared only with the people you connect with, and you can change it at any time from the Messages menu.
  • Start a conversation with any connected contact, or pick several contacts to create a group. A connected contact also shows a Messages button in your Contacts list and at the top of their card.
  • Verify a connection with its safety code. Each connection has a code derived from both sides’ keys, shown as digits and a QR code on the contact’s card. Compare it in person or on a call, or scan the other person’s code, and mark the contact as verified. Accepting an invitation by scanning its QR code in person marks the inviter as verified on your device straight away. A verified contact shows a seal in the conversation title, and the mark clears by itself if the contact’s keys ever change.
  • Remove a connection from a contact’s card when you no longer want to message someone. Both sides lose the ability to send, the conversation is kept as read-only history, and a new invitation is needed to connect again. Reconnecting with the same person brings the earlier history back into one conversation.
  • Send photos, videos, audio, and files from your vault with the paperclip in a conversation. Pick several at once; they are sent together with your message and appear as one scrollable set in the conversation. Attachments are encrypted with the conversation’s key before they leave your device, and any file up to 50 MB can be sent. Larger files are shown dimmed in the picker and cannot be selected. Sending attachments requires Infinity Vaults Professional; receiving them does not.
  • Notes and contacts can be sent as attachments too. Choose Notes or Contacts from the paperclip; a note travels as an RTF file with its formatting and a contact as a vCard with its photo. On the receiving side, Save offers Notes for RTF and text files and Contacts for vCards, in addition to Files. A shared contact is only a contact card; it does not create a messaging connection, which always needs an invitation.
  • Share where you are from the paperclip. Location sends an Apple Maps link to your position at that moment as a message, after you allow location access. It is a single snapshot, never live tracking, and nothing about the position leaves your device until the other person taps the link, which opens in the private browser.
  • Links are previewed. When you type or paste a web address, a preview with the page’s title and image appears above the message field, and you can remove it with the X before sending. The preview is fetched by your device and sent inside the encrypted message, so the person receiving it never contacts the site until they choose to open it. Tap any link in a message or caption to open it in the app’s private browser, press and hold a message to save its link as a bookmark in your vault, and use Bookmarks from the paperclip to share one you already have. When a link is sent together with attachments, the preview appears under the caption. Link Previews can be turned off in the vault’s Messages settings.
  • GIFs play in the conversation itself and carry the same badge as in Media. Animate GIFs in the vault’s Messages settings turns the in-conversation playback off, in which case they show a still frame and play when opened.
  • A received attachment downloads automatically and is kept, encrypted, with the conversation. Tap a photo to view it, and use Save to move any attachment into your vault’s Media, Audio, or Files, where it becomes a normal vault file. An attachment that is never saved is removed from the device after 30 days; the message stays in the conversation and shows that the attachment has expired.
  • Groups show who sent each message, with the sender’s name above and their avatar beside their messages. Members joining, leaving, or being removed, and group renames, appear in the conversation. Delivery status is shown in groups; Read receipts apply to one-to-one conversations only.
  • Send a voice message by holding the microphone button beside the paperclip. A pill in the middle of the conversation shows the recording time; slide right to cancel, or release to keep the recording. It then appears above the message field, where you can listen back or remove it, and it is sent with Send together with any text or other attachments, so send options such as Disappear After or View Once can be chosen for it like any message. Voice messages play in the conversation with a waveform and can be saved to your vault’s Audio like any attachment.
  • Reply to a specific message by swiping it to the right or from the press and hold menu. The quoted message appears above your reply, and tapping the quote jumps back to the original. The same menu offers Forward, which sends a copy of a message or attachment to another conversation and marks it as forwarded.
  • Press and hold any message to react. Six quick reactions are one tap away and any emoji on your keyboard works. Reactions appear on the message for everyone in the conversation, and tapping them shows who reacted.
  • The same press and hold offers Copy, Edit, Unsend, and Delete for Me. Edit and Unsend apply to your own messages for fifteen and two minutes after sending, and reach everyone in the conversation; a message nobody has collected yet is simply withdrawn from delivery. Delete for Me removes a message from your device only.
  • Press and hold the Send button for send options. Disappear After removes the message from every device after the time you choose, from 10 seconds to 4 weeks. By default the timer starts when the message is sent. Choose When Viewed instead and the recipient sees a frosted bubble with Tap to view, and the timer starts for them when they tap it. A ring beside each disappearing message drains as time runs out, turns red for the last ten seconds, and the message dissolves when it reaches zero. Timers follow Apple’s server clock rather than the device clock, so changing the time on a device does not extend a message.
  • Send Later, in the same options, holds a message on the relay and delivers it at the time you choose, up to two weeks ahead, even if your device is off at that moment. Until then it shows as scheduled in the conversation and can be cancelled from the press and hold menu. The relay only ever holds the encrypted message and its release time.
  • The same options control attachments. Turn off Allow Saving to hide Save and sharing on the receiving side. View Once lets the recipient open an attachment a single time before it is removed, and no preview is sent with it. Screenshot Protection shows protected content as black in screenshots, screen recordings, and mirrored displays, and tells you when someone in the conversation takes a screenshot. Default Send Options in the vault’s Messages settings apply any of these to every message you send, and the long-press form shows the defaults so a single message can still be changed. These are enforced by the app on the receiving device. They cannot stop a camera pointed at the screen or a modified copy of the app, and the relay has no part in them.
  • Search a conversation from its menu. Matches in messages and attachment names are counted and highlighted, and the arrows step through them from newest to oldest. Searching happens on the device only.
  • Each day’s first message carries a date marker, and dragging any message to the left shows the time it was sent.
  • A conversation opens at its most recent messages and loads older history as you scroll back. Refresh from the menu or by shaking the device.
  • Block anyone from their contact card, from the conversation menu, or from a group’s member list. A blocked person is not told. Their direct messages are never delivered to you, and in a shared group their messages are hidden from you while the group continues normally. Unblocking restores delivery from that moment on.
  • Report a message from the same press and hold. Reporting blocks the sender and opens an email to our support team with the sender’s identifier and timestamps; you choose whether to include the message text, because nobody else can read it.
  • Connect with someone you share a group with but have not connected to yet: tap them in Group Details and send a connection request. It appears under Requests in their Messages list, where they can accept, decline, or block. No link or QR code leaves the app.
  • Swipe a conversation in the Messages list to pin it to the top, mark it as unread, mute it, or archive it. A muted conversation still receives its messages, just without notifications, and shows a crossed bell next to the date. Archived conversations move to the Archived list in the Messages menu and come back on their own when a new message arrives. These settings live only on your device.
  • Take a photo or video straight into a conversation. Camera in the attachment menu opens the vault’s own camera, and whatever you capture is saved to Media and attached to the message in one step. The AI assistant’s attachment menu offers the same for agents that can see images.
  • Send items from the rest of the vault into a conversation. Select files in Media, Files or Audio and choose Send via Messages from the Export menu, choose Send in Messages from the gallery’s Export button, or use the action button on a note or a contact. You pick the conversation, or start a new one, and the items land in the composer ready to send with any text, timer or schedule you like.
  • Transcribe a voice message on the device. Hold a voice message and choose the transcript button, and the text appears under the waveform in the conversation. The transcript is kept only on your device, is never sent to the other side, and can be removed from the same menu. Requires iOS 26 and Professional.
  • Summarize a conversation on the device. Choose Summarize from the conversation’s action button and Apple’s on-device model condenses the recent messages into a short summary you can copy or save as a note. The messages never leave your device and no summary is stored unless you save it. Requires iOS 26 and Apple Intelligence.
  • Suggested replies. Hold a message from the other person and choose the sparkle, and Apple’s on-device model writes three short replies from the conversation up to that point. They appear stacked above the composer, and tapping one puts it in the message field for you to edit or send. Turn them off with Suggested Replies in the vault’s Messages settings. Requires iOS 26 and Apple Intelligence.
  • Translate a message on the device. Hold a text message and choose Translate, and the translation appears under the original in the bubble, using the languages you have downloaded for Apple’s Translate app. Nothing is sent anywhere and the translation is not stored. Hold the message again to hide it. Requires iOS 26.
  • Hear a message read aloud. Hold a text message and choose the speaker, and the app reads it with the voice chosen in your Notes settings, highlighting each word as it goes. The same controls as the AI assistant appear above the composer to pause, skip by sentence, change the speed or pick a voice.
  • React with any emoji. The full emoji set your device supports is laid out like the keyboard, grouped into categories with a search field, your frequently used emoji first, and a long press to pick a skin tone that is remembered for that emoji. The quick reaction row is yours to customize from the gear in the picker.
  • Messages and the AI assistant work together. Discuss with AI in a conversation’s action button opens a chat with your chosen AI agent and the recent messages attached, so you can ask for a summary, advice or a draft reply. Hold a single message and tap the AI button to suggest replies, discuss that message with its text, photos and documents attached, or restyle a photo it contains. Suggested replies can be dismissed with the close button on the first suggestion. In the AI assistant, hold any response and choose Send in Messages to put it in the composer of a conversation you pick.
  • Delete a conversation from your device at any time. Deleting a one-to-one conversation affects only your device. When the person who created a group deletes it, the group is removed for every member the next time their app opens. If the creator leaves instead, the group continues and management passes to another member, which is shown in the conversation.
  • Everything already delivered stays readable offline or when a required VPN is down. Only actions that would contact the relay, such as sending, refreshing, reacting, or inviting, are stopped, and a message tells you why.
  • Messaging uses your iCloud account to deliver messages, so you need to be signed in to iCloud on the device. If the device is signed out, a notice at the bottom of the Messages list says so and opens Settings when tapped. Messages are not synced between your own devices. Each vault has its own messaging identity, and that identity lives only in that vault.

Where your messages are stored

There is no Infinity Vaults messaging server. Your messages pass through three places, and only one of them can ever read them.

  • Your device. Your messaging keys, your contacts’ keys, and every delivered message are stored inside the encrypted vault database on your device, protected by your vault’s encryption and your lock screen. Messages are also encrypted individually with the conversation’s key.
  • Apple’s servers, in transit. While a message is on its way, an encrypted copy sits in the app’s iCloud database. Apple holds only ciphertext and the opaque mailbox identifier it is addressed to. Attachments travel the same way as a single encrypted file shared by everyone in the conversation. The copy is removed once the recipient’s device has collected it, or after 30 days if it was never collected. The same is true for the handshake that connects two people. Apple’s servers never hold a readable message, a decryption key, your contacts’ names, or your display name.
  • Your contact’s device. The decrypted message is stored in their vault, under their own encryption.

What can be seen, and by whom

  • Apple can see that your iCloud account wrote or collected an encrypted record, when it happened, and how large it was. Each record is stamped with an identifier of the iCloud account that created it. Apple cannot see the content, who the message was for, or your display name.
  • Other people on the network see nothing. All traffic to and from Apple is protected by TLS on top of the end-to-end encryption.
  • Other users of the app cannot read your messages. A technically skilled user who modifies their copy of the app could observe the encrypted records passing through the shared iCloud database, including when they were written and the account identifier on them, but not their content. Mailbox identifiers are random and are never used as a security boundary.
  • 333i, the maker of Infinity Vaults, runs no messaging server and has no way to read, intercept, or decrypt your messages. The only server-side component is a scheduled cleanup that deletes expired encrypted records from the iCloud database and sees nothing but their timestamps.

Notifications

A new message arrives as a push notification that says only “New message”. The notification carries no content, no sender, and no conversation name, and Apple’s notification service sees only that a notification was sent to your device. The app fetches and decrypts the message itself when you open it. Because push notifications are delivered to every device signed in to the same iCloud account, a second device on your account may show the notification even though it holds no vault that can read the message.

Invitations

An invitation link contains your public keys, a one-time mailbox identifier, and your display name. It contains no private key and nothing that can decrypt messages. The link points to infinityvaults.com so that someone without the app is sent to the App Store, but the invitation data sits after the # in the link, which browsers never send to the website. Treat an invitation like a key to your door: share it only with the person it is for.

Notes

Create private Notes with rich text support

  • Add a name / identifier to help find the note easily in the future.
  • Add text with rich formatting support.
  • Use the toolbar added to the iOS Keyboard to adjust line type (Title / Heading / Body), style (Normal, Bold, Italic, Strikethrough), alignment (Left, Center, Right), indentation, text color, and highlight color.
  • Use AI on a note to Summarize or Discuss its contents in a chat session.
  • Move text between Notes and Files in either direction. A note’s action menu can save it to Files as an RTF document, and an RTF or plain text file in Files offers Copy to Notes from its action menu, keeping fonts, sizes, bold, italic, underline, colours, alignment and lists. Embedded images are left out, since notes hold text only.
  • Tap the speaker button in the navigation bar to Read Aloud. The note is spoken on device and each word is highlighted and scrolled to as it is read. Tap the speaker again to stop. Nothing is sent off the device.
  • Reading starts wherever you are. With the keyboard open it starts at the cursor, otherwise it starts at the first word visible on screen, so a scrolled note picks up where you are reading.
  • While reading, a control bar appears with restart, skip back and forward a sentence, play / pause, stop, playback speed, and voice. Changing speed or voice continues from the current word instead of starting over.
  • Choose any voice installed on the device. Download higher quality voices in the iOS Settings app under Accessibility, Spoken Content, Voices.
  • Choose “Save as Audio” in the action menu to turn the note into an audio file stored in the Vault’s Audio section, so it can be played later from the audio player. Cancel the progress indicator to stop it.
  • Move or Copy to Vault from the item’s menu sends it to another Vault. Enter the key for that Vault’s Space, choose the Vault, and the item transfers right away with all of its details. Duplicate makes an independent copy in the current Vault and opens it, which is the quick way to create variations.

Camera

The built-in Camera allows you to take photo and video and stores them directly in the app.

  • Use the shutter button to take photos or start/stop a video recording.
  • Tap the zoom button to switch between 1x, 2x, and 5x zoom. Pinch on the screen to refine the zoom level.
  • Control shutter speed by tapping the button to the left of zoom. It supports “Auto” and various shutter durations.
  • Review photos and videos quickly by tapping the preview button in the lower left.
  • Tap the screen to change the focus point.
  • A faint box is visible on the screen to show the active capture area.
  • Recording will take in to account the device orientation at start of capture.
  • Point the Camera at a QR code and a scan button appears next to the zoom and exposure controls. Tap it to see what the code contains, then open a web address in the private Browser or copy the contents. Codes are read entirely on-device and are never opened automatically.
  • Use the Action button (+) to access features like switching between capture modes, flipping the camera, enabling / disabling flash, showing a grid, and hiding the camera viewfinder.
  • On the iOS Lock screen, you can add a Camera widget for quickly taking photos without key access or the app initially open (viewing photos requires key access).

Settings

Customize your app experience with various settings.

  • When accessing settings from your primary Keychain/Vault all settings will be available including Global settings. Otherwise, settings are unique to each Vault.
  • Global Settings show storage statistics and allow changing the app icon.
  • Start a Web Uploader (provides a URL you can load in your web browser on a desktop computer to import, transfer, or backup individual files WITHOUT encryption).
  • Start a WebDAV server (provides IP/credentials details you can load in your WebDAV client on a desktop computer to import, transfer, or backup individual files WITH encryption). This is most commonly used for copying data to another device, backing up raw data, or recovering from a manual backup.
  • Set credentials for data transfer.
  • Check for any imports that may have been missed on a previous app launch.
  • To make the action button (+) on the left and the tools button on the right, enable “Flip Controls”.
  • By default, edited items that are overwritten store the original copy in the Trash. To prevent storing the original copy, choose to delete overwritten immediately.
  • Clear global temporary storage.
  • View Break-In Reports. NOTE: To get the most out of this feature, when enabling please approve the location and camera permissions. When a user enters incorrect authentication information for a specific Vault, a photo will be taken and the time and location will be stored. In the event of 5 or more consecutive failed attempts, the app will be locked for a period of time to prevent brute force attacks.
  • Scan for orphaned files and recover to vaults when possible using primary vault.
  • Set the number of days to retain files in the trash. NOTE: When deleting folders, all of the contents of its folder and subfolders are moved to the trash and the folder structure is permanently lost. For this reason, folder deletion requires validating the active Keychain.
  • When sharing content to Infinity Vaults from another app, set whether to import to the Security Box (default) or to the Primary Vault on your Primary Keychain.
  • Enable allowing opening the Camera with a widget without authenticating if the app was previously opened but in the background.
  • Enable logging for debugging purposes if you are experiencing an issue. This is used to send logging to our support team. For privacy, it is recommended to keep this off unless you need to send logs.
  • Export your encryption key in case you need it to recover data outside of the app at a later time. You will need to provide your passphrase to retrieve the key.
  • Enable “Erase Data After Failed Attempts” in Global Security settings (Professional) and choose the attempt threshold. Setting a Keychain Recovery Email is recommended so a forgotten key can be recovered instead of counted.
  • Edit the name or keys of the active Keychain. The keys and name must be unique.
  • Set a recovery email for each Keychain. Without this value set, a keychain CANNOT be recovered. If using this feature, ensure an email address that is secure is used as this will allow bypassing your standard security mechanisms and can be a risk.
  • Enable Panic Mode to close all screens and lock the app when your device is placed face down. Set an optional iOS system app to open when this is performed.
  • Set the Geofence radius (in meters). This defaults to 50 meters and is only enabled if you specify it on your Keychain.
  • Set the Hue, Saturation, Brightness, and Background Image Opacity for the dashboard background and accents colors used in each Vault. This can help you distinguish each Vault.
  • Set the Prominence of accent colors used on action buttons, borders, and highlights. 100% uses the brightest accent, 0% matches the theme color exactly, and values in between blend the two.
  • Enable “Search Bar at Bottom” to move the search bar out of the title bar and onto a floating pill within reach of your thumb. It applies to every screen that has a search bar.
  • Set the number of items in each row on the Media / Files / Audio collections.
  • Enable showing a prompt to delete items that are imported from Photos or Files.
  • Disable background audio or video. When disabled, Video Picture In Picture and listening to Podcasts or other Audio in the background will not be supported.
  • Set the zoom for double tapping on images and videos in the app Gallery.
  • Set the seconds per slide when running a slideshow in the app Gallery.
  • Update capture settings for the Camera.
  • Assign functions to volume up/down press and long press for the Camera.
  • Clear Browser Data. These settings affect all tabs in a Vault.
  • Set the Search Engine to use when searching in the URL bar and update the default User Agent used on all tabs when the Browser is opened.
  • Adjust specific behavior settings of the Browser. Origin URL can be found on the info screen for downloaded Media / Audio / Files.
  • Clear Downloads and set retention behavior.
  • Access Miscellaneous features such as viewing FAQs, etc., rating the app on the App Store, Sharing the app with friends, sending support logs, and seeing the current Build version.
  • The Action button (+) provides additional tools to restart the app, restore from a raw backup (starts a WebDAV server to allow overwriting raw files and starts recovery process), and resetting all settings.
  • NOTE: For users concerned about data backup separate from iTunes/iCloud backup, you are encouraged to use the WebDAV feature periodically and backup raw files to a secure hard drive. You can then use the Restore from Backup feature as necessary to copy these files back to your device and start the recovery process. This can also be used to transfer all app data to another device.

Reminders

Create and manage reminders.

  • Set an identifier, description, reference URL, date, repeat schedule, sound enabled, and completed state.
  • Repeat hourly, daily, on weekdays, on weekends, weekly, monthly, or yearly.
  • Optionally sends local notifications to remind you of upcoming events.
  • Pull down on a notification to Snooze for 15 minutes without opening the app, or choose Done to mark the reminder complete. Because the Vault is locked in the background, a completion is applied the next time you unlock and open the Vault.
  • Swipe a reminder in the list to mark it done or put it back.
  • Reminders show a friendly due date such as “Tomorrow 9:00 AM”, and anything past due is shown in red. Completed reminders are dimmed and struck through.
  • Use the action menu to sort by due date or arrange manually, and to hide or show completed reminders. Both choices are remembered.
  • Move or Copy to Vault from the item’s menu sends it to another Vault. Enter the key for that Vault’s Space, choose the Vault, and the item transfers right away with all of its details. Duplicate makes an independent copy in the current Vault and opens it, which is the quick way to create variations.

Contacts

Import and manage your contacts with detailed information.

  • Supports photo, prefix, first, middle, and last name, suffix, nickname, phonetic spellings, pronouns, company, job title, department, birthdate, anniversary, phone numbers, addresses, email addresses, website URLs, social accounts, related names, and notes.
  • Import from the iOS Contacts app or from a vCard (.vcf) file. Export any contact as a vCard from the action menu, or use Copy to Files to place the vCard in the vault’s Files. A vCard stored in Files offers Copy to Contacts from its action menu.
  • Add related names such as spouse, parent, child, or manager, each with its own label, and any number of dates such as an anniversary.
  • Sort the list by first or last name from the filter menu in the nav bar.
  • Click on fields to copy or interact with phone numbers, URLs, addresses, etc. Phone numbers and email addresses also offer FaceTime Video and FaceTime Audio.
  • Viewing a contact shows a header card with the photo, full name, job title, and company, plus quick buttons for Call, Message, Email, and FaceTime. Tap the name to copy it.
  • Viewing a contact shows only the fields that have been filled in. Switch to edit mode to see and change everything.
  • Move or Copy to Vault from the item’s menu sends it to another Vault. Enter the key for that Vault’s Space, choose the Vault, and the item transfers right away with all of its details. Duplicate makes an independent copy in the current Vault and opens it, which is the quick way to create variations.

Wallet

Store and manage your IDs and cards.

  • Supports photo, name, type, description, number, expiration date, issue date, CVC, and address.
  • The card type and icon are detected automatically from the card number for Visa, Mastercard, American Express, and Discover. Choose the type manually for IDs, passports, and membership cards.
  • Card and billing address fields support iOS AutoFill, so a card already saved on your device can be filled in rather than typed. Long press a field to use it.
  • Store a PIN and a support phone number to call if the card is lost, plus free form notes.
  • Choose “Show Barcode” when viewing a card to display its number as a scannable barcode and QR code. The screen brightens automatically so a scanner can read it.
  • Cards past their expiration date are marked with a red dot in the list, and the filter menu can show only expired cards. Filter by card type as well, where Credit Card covers VISA, Mastercard, American Express, and Discover.
  • Click on fields to copy or interact with phone numbers, URLs, addresses, etc.
  • Viewing a card shows only the fields that have been filled in.

Browser

Infinity Vaults has a custom private browser that builds on the many great features of the standard Safari app on iOS.

  • Supports multiple tabs with individual privacy for each tab. Each tab has its own history, cache, and cookies. When a tab is deleted, its history, cache, and cookies are deleted. Refine the behavior in settings.
  • Blocks trackers and ads on every tab. “Block Ads and Trackers” in Browser settings is on by default and uses a content blocking list built into the app, so requests to known ad and tracking domains are stopped before they leave the device and the page elements that would have shown ads are hidden. The list is compiled by the system’s content blocker, which means blocking happens inside WebKit and nothing about your browsing is sent anywhere to decide what to block. The list is updated with app releases. Turn the switch off if a page needs its ads or trackers to work, and every open tab follows the change at once.
  • Access tabs by choosing “Show Tabs” in the action menu or swiping up on the URL bar. Swipe left/right on the URL bar to change tabs or create a new tab if swiping left on the last tab. Long press on tabs to drag and re-arrange.
  • Expand fullscreen and hide the control bar and nav bar by choosing “Hide Controls” in the action menu or swiping down on the URL bar. When a video is detected on the page, a translucent frame capture button appears above the action button. You can long press on this button to start/stop live recordings as well. It brightens while you touch it and dims to gray a few seconds after you let go, so it stays out of the way until you need it. If it lands on top of something you need, drag it anywhere on the page and it stays there for every page until you move it again. Turn on Disable Video Capture Button in Browser settings if you would rather not see it at all; frame capture remains available from the video tools menu.
  • Navigate web pages with back, forward, and refresh. Long press on back/forward to jump to items or on refresh to reload the page with a different User Agent.
  • Use the share button to Save and share rendered pages as PDFs, save a webpage as a Web App, or take screenshots of the visible page.
  • Use the book button to open Settings, open Media/Files/Audio, open Reader Mode, paste a copied URL, clear browser data, navigate to the domain root for a webpage, manage history, view webpage source, view RSS feeds, and manage bookmarks.
  • Long press on photos, videos, and file links to download to the app storage. NOTE: Due to terms of use restrictions, some webpages will have this disabled.
  • When browsing pages with videos, a video button will appear when a video starts playing. It provides tools for recording live streams (HLS to MP4), capture video frames as images, downloading non-live videos, opening in a new tab, and copying URLs.
  • Shake to reload page and scroll to the top.
  • Use Short Links like fb@username or ig@username to navigate to users on common social networks.
  • Zoom with your thumb by dragging up/down along the lower left edge of the active tab. A green bar will appear showing the zoom level.
  • Collapse the navigation row into a single URL bar using the chevron at the right of the URL field, giving the page more room. Tap it again to bring the row back. Your choice is remembered the next time you open the browser.
  • When “Require VPN for Browser” is enabled in Security settings and your VPN drops, pages stop loading and a paused screen appears. Browsing resumes on its own as soon as the VPN reconnects.
  • Choose a “Network Status Server” in Browser settings to see what the internet sees for your device. Mullvad is selected by default, and choosing Disabled removes the feature from every menu. While a server is selected, a “Network Status” option appears in the browser Tools submenu, the Tools submenu of a social file’s Options menu, and directly below the server setting. Each check first asks you to confirm the exact server it will contact, then sends a single request over an encrypted connection with no cookies and shows the public address, country, city, and network that server observed. With a working VPN those values belong to the VPN exit, and if the VPN has dropped your real connection shows instead. Nothing from the check is stored.
  • Autofill Routines (Professional) load a page and fill its form for you from the Autofill submenu under the book button, and from the Options menu on a social file. Create routines in Browser settings. Each routine has a name, the URL to load, an optional pattern that limits which pages list it, an optional delay, and a submit target, which is a button id or a field id to press Enter in. Each field names the input to fill on the destination page and takes its value from the current page’s URL, from an element on the current page chosen with a CSS selector and optional attribute, from fixed text, from the clipboard, from a Password in your vault, or from a JavaScript snippet run on the current page (an expression, or statements ending with return), with an optional regular expression applied to the result. Write {key} in the URL to put a field’s value into the address instead of filling it on the page. Routines are stored inside the vault, so they are encrypted with everything else and belong to that vault. Password values are read from the vault at the moment the routine runs and are never stored in the routine.

Downloads

Manage downloaded media / audio /files.

  • Shows progress on downloads.
  • Supports cancelling and restarting stalled / failed downloads.
  • Click on a completed download to navigate to it directly (as long as the file still exists on your device).
  • The Upload feature mentioned previously for adding files to your Cloud Vaults operates in a near identical manner.

Passwords

Securely store your passwords and credentials.

  • Supports identifier, username, password, domains, and notes.
  • Can be used within the in-app browser for quick login access. When selecting a login/password field, a bar will appear above your keyboard when a matching domain password exists.
  • Tap to copy values if you want to use them outside of the app. Tap a domain while viewing to copy it or open it in the browser.
  • Search matches the name, username, and any stored domain. The list shows the first domain in parentheses after the name.
  • A strength rating is shown on the password line itself and updates as you type, along with the date the password was last changed. An eye button on the same line shows or hides the password in both viewing and editing modes.
  • Choose “Generate Password” while editing to open the generator, where you can set the length and whether to include uppercase letters, numbers, and symbols. Your choices are remembered.
  • When you change a password, the previous one is kept in a Password History section visible while viewing, holding the last ten. Old passwords stay masked and behave like the password field: tap to copy, or use the eye to reveal.
  • Store a two-factor setup key and the app will show a live verification code while viewing, with a countdown to the next one. Tap the code to copy it. Scan the QR code the service shows you, or paste an “otpauth://” setup link, and the key, issuer, digit count, period, and algorithm are all filled in for you.
  • Keep your two-factor backup codes alongside the setup key so they are not lost if you change phones.
  • Store security questions and answers. Answers stay masked in the list; tap to copy or use the eye to reveal. Clearing both fields removes the entry.
  • Viewing a password shows only the fields that have been filled in.

Media / Audio / Files

Organize your files with ease and advanced features.

  • Manage files in collections with grid and folder structure (folders can be password-protected).
  • Folders can be added within folders system to a desktop operating system. Folders can be moved once created.
  • Add new content via Import Media or Open Camera
  • Permanently reorder items in reverse, random order, by date created, by file size, or by file name. NOTE: Folders will always be at the top and are not affected by reordering.
  • Tap the green “Tools” button to enter editing mode.
  • For folders in editing mode, tap the red delete button to delete a folder or tap on a folder for more options like Delete, Edit, Edit Icon, and Move. Drag to re-order.
  • For other items in editing mode, many powerful features are available to explore listed below.
  • Select individual items by tapping each file or choose select All.
  • While selecting, long press an item you have not selected yet to open a quick preview of the actual file in a small window, so you can confirm it is the one you want before adding it. Tap outside the window or its close button to dismiss it.
  • While selecting, long press an item you have already selected to pick it up with a count of everything selected shown in its corner. Drop it on a folder to move the whole selection into that folder, or drop it in a new spot to move the whole selection there, keeping the items in their current order.
  • Export items via the system Share Sheet, macOS iTunes File Sharing, batch files via WebDAV, or download individual files via the Web Exporter.
  • Copy/Move files to other folders or sections of the app. Move or Copy to Vault sends items straight to another Vault. Enter the key for that Vault’s Space, pick the Vault, then choose the destination folder exactly as you would inside the current Vault. Files are re-encrypted with the destination Vault’s key on the way over. Each Vault can turn this off under Media settings, and the primary Space can hide that setting entirely under Security. The “Security Box” in the upper right still works as a holding area.
  • Each Vault and the Security Box have their own trash. Deleted files will be moved to the Trash. Professional users can recover files from the trash. NOTE: Folders are deleted immediately and not moved to the trash. Adjust retention behavior in settings.
  • Perform bulk updates such as favoriting, adding/removing tags, hiding/revealing, moving to trash, etc.
  • Tag your whole library at once with Scan for Untagged Media in Media settings (Professional). It covers photos and videos, reports how much of the Vault is untagged before it starts, shows progress, and can be cancelled at any point. Recognition runs entirely on-device and nothing about your media leaves the device.
  • Clear All Tags in Media settings removes every tag in the current Vault and makes its media eligible for tagging again.
  • Select the options button to access features like merging videos and merging images in to a slideshow video.
  • Search automatic tags in your own language. Tags are stored independently of language, so switching your device language re-labels them instantly without re-scanning.
  • Tag search is forgiving. If what you typed does not match a tag exactly it tries the root of the word, so “trees” finds Tree, and then looks for close alternatives, so “automobile” finds Car. This only ever adds results, never removes them, and it runs entirely on-device.
  • Use the Filters button to filter by Keyword (searches filename, tags, notes, and origin URL), favorited, not accessed, tags, not tagged, type, and AI duplicate photo analysis. Temporary sort by date created, date last accessed, date modified, name, file size, type, random order, and visual perception (to further help finding duplicates). Set ascending or descending sort order.
  • Filter by New to show items added in the last week.
  • Filter by Date Created to show only items added today, in the last 7 days, in the last 30 days, or in the last 365 days. These windows move with the clock, so a saved preset or smart folder using one of them always reflects the current date. Choose Random Date to pick one item at random and show everything added on that same day. A smart folder or preset saved with Random Date draws a fresh day each time it is opened or applied.
  • In the Audio section, filter by In Progress to find anything you started but have not finished, or by Completed to find anything you have played to the end. Anything past 95% counts as completed, so trailing credits do not keep an episode in your unfinished list.
  • Save any combination of filters and sorting as a Smart Folder. A Smart Folder is a saved search rather than a container, so it gathers matching items from the folder it was created in and all of its sub-folders, and updates itself as content changes. Smart Folders are read-only, and opening a file from one shows its real folder path in the title bar which can be tapped to jump to that location. Use Update Smart Folder to save changes to its filters.
  • When you add your first Podcast, New, In Progress, and Downloaded Smart Folders are created for you automatically in the Audio section.
  • In the Audio section, add a Podcast by searching for it by name, or by entering its RSS Feed URL directly. Searches use Apple’s public podcast directory. In the Media section, add an MRSS URL to add a remote storage video feed.
  • Podcast episodes are added automatically when a Podcast is added and are refreshed in the background when you open the Audio section, so you do not need to open each show to see new episodes. A green dot on the show artwork indicates unplayed episodes added in the last week.
  • Swipe right on a podcast episode to mark it as played. The episode gets its check mark and a full green progress bar, which is useful when you have already listened to it somewhere else. Swipe again to undo it, clearing the check and setting progress back to the start.
  • Imported MP3s will attempt to find ID3 data for rich display.
  • In the audio section, you can create voice recordings/memos within the app, and trim or merge audio files.
  • Convert WAV and other audio files to M4A to reduce their size while keeping music quality (Professional). From the player’s Edit menu you choose Overwrite or Save as Copy, and selecting several eligible audio files offers a bulk conversion just like Convert to HEIC for images.
  • Filter audio by format (M4A, MP3, or WAV) from the filter menu to find files worth converting.
  • Set your own artwork on audio files and folders from the Edit menu, choosing an image from your Media or your Photos library. The player, lists, and Now Playing update immediately, and Remove Artwork returns to the default.
  • Transcribe audio recordings and podcast episodes to text entirely on-device (Professional, on supported devices).
  • Imported Live Photos can be animated by long pressing on the image. NOTE: Live Photos can only be imported WITHIN the application by choosing “Import Media” and then “Import from Photos”. When importing live photos from the share extension, they will come in as a static image due to iOS limitations.
